 <div class="container">The IPMI Trend Show 2014 may have taken place last week (October 8-9 at Gandaria City's Skeeno Hall), but that doesn't mean that the show didn't leave behind a strong impression on us. I've rounded up photos from shows that we enjoyed on the first night of the festival, and <a href="http://www.fashionesedaily.com/blog/author/grisselda/" target="_blank">Griss</a> is going to share with you her favorites from Day 2. If you haven't already seen our video interview with Yogie Pratama following the presentation of his Melancholia collection, <a href="http://www.fashionesedaily.com/blog/2013/10/16/all-access-yogie-pratama-and-denny-wirawan-at-ipmi-trend-show-2014/" target="_blank">you really should</a>. In it, he explains why he picked out such contrasting color palettes for his Spring/Summer '14 collection: it was basically a love letter to a woman's entire life, with each sequence representing his personal interpretation of women throughout different stages in their lives. But oh my, don't you just love the romantic and reassured appeal of the red dresses in the third sequence? I'm guessing this sequence was dedicated to women who have reached an age where they were going to let the world know that they have figured out everything in life that needed figuring out. The red is so very evocative of Valentino, and it makes sense too, as Pratama did mention how Valentino Garavani was one of the designers <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=breYik3Ev8w&amp;feature=c4-overview&amp;list=UUNUwEyuhp_pguzCTT_bctSQ" target="_blank">he would like to hang out with</a>. The Melancholia collection is basically perfect for personalities that resembled -- and I'm paraphrasing Humphrey Bogart here -- steel with curves.  And then there was Mel Ahyar, whose winsome Les Marionnettes collection was ingenious in its implementation of French and Indonesian motifs. I loved how she reinterpreted and formed prints out of characters seen in Javanese shadow puppetry -- but it comes with a twist! This twist lay in the actual reinterpretation of the Javanese shadow puppets themselves, and how she printed them to look like Sicilian marionettes. It was so very, very clever of her to seamlessly mesh two vastly different forms of puppetry into a single wearable print. The two dresses combined lace and sheer to result in stunning gothic numbers that were very much Downton Abbey and Corpse Bride all in one. Gold stars around for the Les Marionnettes collection! Denny Wirawan produces work that is consistently staggering to me. I've previously mentioned that <a href="http://www.fashionesedaily.com/blog/2013/10/16/all-access-yogie-pratama-and-denny-wirawan-at-ipmi-trend-show-2014/3/" target="_blank">this collection was an art exhibit and fashion show in equal parts</a>, but what I didn't mention is how he always manages to showcase traditional Indonesian artistry through a contemporary and groundbreaking medium. Wirawan works with Cita Tenun Indonesia to implement Tenun Sumba into his Balijava label, and this was also the case with the La Mer et du Soleil collection.
