The Only Makeup Tutorials You'll Need This Holiday Season

seo-img-article

It’s holiday season again! Man, can you believe 2014 is nearly over? I feel like it was just yesterday that we sat down and made our beauty and skincare resolutions for 2014, and now it’s time to come with a new set of resolutions for 2015. How many of you ladies plan to end the year with a bang? I plan on chilling out and celebrating the end of 2014 from the comfort of my sofa, but you can bet I’ll be doing it with a full face of makeup on. Call me superficial or superstitious, but I won’t be caught dead in the first few hours of 2015 with a bare face 😉

So when the good people of Max Factor sent us a bunch of stuff to play with, we experimented with a couple of looks that we could deploy to send off the year with. Shella had fun recreating two very different makeup looks on our model with a bunch of Max Factor products, and there’s a very good chance I’ll be trying out one or both of these for NYE.

The first look we tried out was this absolutely fun ’80s-inspired look, which adore. I love the idea of putting the pedal to the medal on New Year’s Eve by teaming up this look with a sparkly dress and big hair.

Party Look Facechart

We started by defining our model’s already-thick eyebrows with the Eyebrow Pencil in #1 Ebony. A lot of people will tell you that using a black eyebrow pencil is a beauty faux-pas — but that’s only if you don’t apply it in short, featherweight strokes. Draw out an outline of your desired eyebrow shape first before filling it in, and follow up with the attached brush on the cap to blend and soften any harsh lines.

IMG_7339 (1024x683)All done? Now it’s time to sweep some Wild Shadow Pots in #50 Untamed Green with your favorite eye shader brush.

IMG_7354 (1024x683)Draw the outer “V” of the smokey eye with the Excess Intensity Longwear Eyeliner in #04 and blend. Then take a tapered blending brush and sweep the Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in #09 Soft Murano on the top outer corner of the “V” for a retro-looking contrast.

IMG_7369 (1024x683) IMG_7370 (1024x683)Nearly done with the eyes now! The Colour X-Pert Waterproof Eyeliner makes for a perfect finishing touch to define the top lids. Then sweep the Wild Shadow Pots in #45 Sapphire Rage along the lower waterline for a proper Karma Chameleon-era feel.

IMG_7377 (1024x683) IMG_7378 (1024x683)For a no-brainer eyelash solution, we came back to the Excess Volume Mascara, which we excessively obsess over. You can read all about in this link.

IMG_7383 (1024x683)Only three products were used for the face:  Skin Luminizer Foundation in #60 Sand, Creme Puff Pressed Powder in #81 Truly Fair, and Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in #09 Soft Murano on the cheeks.

IMG_7392 (1024x683)Let’s take a closer look at those multicolored eyelids:
