Say Sawadeeka to New Beauty Brands at Central Grand Indonesia

seo-img-article

2015 is supposed to be an exciting year for countries party to ASEAN because of all the wheeling and dealing that amounted to a free trade agreement, which is expected to energize the regional economy. But ASEAN’s vision for 2015 has come early for Chrsitmas in the form of the brand spankin’ new Central Department Store, located in Grand Indonesia. This is a department store that hails all the way to us from Thailand, which is exactly the kind of regional cooperation and interoperability I appreciate as a consumer へ(゜∇、°)へ

Enjoy four floors of shopping at Grand Indonesia’s East Mall and treat yourself to a little bit of retail therapy, because even more Indonesian designers are accessible with the opening of the store: expect to see names like Jeffry Tan and Stella Rissa opening shop alongside Ivan Gunawan and Hian Tjen. Some of Thailand’s big hitters in specialty boutiques and accessory labels are also thrown into the mix, like BOYY, Disaya, and 77th. It’s a whole new world of accessorizing with these guys, but I’m also keeping my fingers crossed for a little bit of action from the excellent Thai streetwear label, Adhoc. But if you’re looking for fashion influence that’s a little more foreign, fret not: you may take your pick from Isabel Marant, Kenzo, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, and Vivienne Tam.

Central Facade 2 (800x533)Now all the style inspiration is neat and everything, but you know what we’re all about here: we’re nuts about beauty, and our nuttiness reached previously uncharted levels when we heard about how the department store basically heralded the arrival of two new brands into the country:

THREE

AAAAAAH you have no idea how thrilled I am to see this Japanese brand of skin care and cosmetics line arrive in Jakarta. You all know I’m a sucker for products that are packaged in minimalist designs, and this one is no different. So looking forward to trying out their products, especially since I’ve been stalking the THREE Thailand Instagram account out of admiration/envy.

Illamasqua

Lipsticks, nail varnishes, and mascara (not to scale, no duh)

My cheering for THREE was out-powered only by my esteemed colleagues’ (and fellow editors) excitement for the opening of an Illmasqua booth. We are going to be all over their lipsticks, blushers, and foundations, but I know Shella will probably be losing it over their famous nail polishes.

And not forgetting, of course, the presence of other cosmetics and skin care brands that we’ve already come to know and love: expect to also see Benefit, Clarins, GLAMGLOW, J.F. Lazartique, Kanebo, Kiehl’s, Lancome, Laneige, Make Up For Ever, PAC Martha Tilaar, Phyto, Sampar, Shiseido, Shu Uemura, Sisley, SK-II, Sulwhasoo, Valmont, and YSL.

The department store is big, covering up to 20,000 sq. m. over four floors. It’s a lot of space to cover and I understand if anyone would get tired out from walking, so don’t forget to rest and fuel up at the in-house F&B establishments, Cafe Milano and Union Deli. Come to think of it, this is the perfect place to get all your Christmas shopping done! And if I have the good fortune of being on your list, you already know I’ll be asking from Santa this season ;’)
