Everlasting Love For Denim
Denim, denim, denim.
It’s been there way back before we were born. It’s still going on strong now and will continue to be a part of the fashion industry.
Denim is a rugged cotton twill textile, in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces the familiar diagonal ribbing of the fabric, which distinguishes denim from cotton duck. It is characteristic of any indigo denim that only the warp threads are dyed, whereas the weft threads remain plain white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the fabric shows the blue warp threads, the other side shows the white weft threads. This is why jeans are white from the inside and what makes their fading characteristics so unique compared to every other fabric. Denim is now ubiquitous and has even entered the world of high fashion. Nearly everyone has at least one garment made of this fabric in the closet these days.
What I love about denim is, you can pull off many styles, depending on what piece of denim you are wearing. It’s possible to look elegant with denim. It’s possible to rock that boyish look with denim. It’s possible to look sexy with denim. It’s also possible to look casual with denim. No look is impossible to achieve with denim.
What we have to master first is finding the right denim/jeans for our body shape. Don’t try to wear a piece of denim that doesn’t suit our certain part of body. “If your jeans are too baggy, you’ll end up looking big all over,” warns Kate Ciepluch, the fashion director for Shopbop.com. And if you try to wear super tight jeans, for example, no matter how much I love this piece and no matter how cute this is (picture below), I know I will look weird and a bit ‘maksa‘ if I insist on wearing it. 😀
But that’s fine. There’s still a lot of pieces that I and you can wear. So be ready to rummage our closet AND our mom’s closet beacuse even 80s denim will look good if you know how to wear it. I put a few pictures for our inspiration.
1. Denim For Work
We can wear denim as our top and mix it with our work-skirt or pants. Denim blazer is also a great option. 🙂
2. Denim and Patterns
I must say I love this pair! We can definitely choose whatever patterns that we want; animal prints, flowery pattern or BATIK. Are you ready to pull off this pair, ladies? 🙂
3. Look Chic With Denim
Pair blazer or jacket with your denim. It doesn’t have to be skinny jeans, though. We can wear another type of jeans. Just play around, find the best match for you.
4. Roll Up The Denim
Personally I really want to try this! And I need to buy at least one rolled up jeans. I love how casual it looks, perfect for a lazy hang out day with friends. 🙂
5. Denim Dress
I think for some denim dress, if you add belt with different color it would be nice.
6. Denim and Shorts and Blouse
This particular look is the one that I wear most often if I feel the weather is very hot. Short denim, a blouse and I’m ready to go. 🙂
7. Mom, Lend Me Those Denims
Who knows, maybe our mom still keeps her old denims. Ask her. Go go go! 🙂
8. Shoes and Bag
How cute are these?! Now I’m in a mission to find denim shoes. *aaaaa*
And to add more love to denims, I don’t have a hard time to find something to wear on the foot (sandals, flat shoes, heels, sneakers, anything!), even I don’t care about the other colors anymore because literally any color goes well with denim! Even you can pull off denim + denim! 😀
