Collar necklace has been around for some time, in many shapes and forms. I usually think of collar necklace as necklace with a more rigid structure, worn around the collar, and it usually becomes a statement accessory for the wearer. My mother has this gold-colored necklace that I really love to (borrow and) wear to weddings because it accents the Kebaya (my choice of wear for weddings) nicely.

However, I have been noticing this particular form of collar necklace a lot lately. This type of collar necklace takes shape like an actual collar. It may be made of fabric, metal, or woven mesh. I am intrigued by it, and I wonder how one would wear it. In a glance, I would naturally go with round or boat-neck blouse or dress, giving the necklace an illusion of an actual collar integrated to the clothing.

I personally think it is most flattering to be worn with somebody with longer neck. One with stubby neck could find this collar accessory to give an illusion of an even shorter neck.

Do you think it’s true? Do you own one? If you do, how do you wear them? That is, with what kind of top? Please share!
