The award season has officially wrapped up yesterday, with the biggest, most prominent award show of all: the 84th Academy Awards. It was inconveniently broadcasted live at Monday morning, Western Indonesian time, so probably lots of you missed it. But hey, you followed our live tweets, didn’t you?

You’d better, because I postponed eating and peeing all morning for it 😀

Anyways.

Aside from the winners of each category, the most anticipated and talked about issue of the event is definitely the ladies’ dresses. Who wears what and who wears it best?

Here are our favorites:

Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen

Jessica’s previous choices for red carpet have always been slim, solid color dresses. So this dramatic, copper-patterned black gown is a wonderful, wonderful surprise. It is such a beautiful piece, with a risky print to wear. Thankfully, she rocks it. By the way, if you feel like you’ve seen this dress somewhere before, you may be thinking of Sapto Djojokartiko’s collection in Jakarta Fashion Week 2012. The resemblance is uncanny!

Rooney Mara in Givenchy

You know how some people work better under the pressure of time? Well, Rooney picked her white Givenchy dress on Sunday morning—so close to the event—and it’s a spot on. Maybe she’s one of those people? We love the architectural cuts on the gown. Completed with her structural bangs and zero jewelry, Rooney’s look seems fitting with her badass character in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Loyal—that’s what Octavia is in picking her red carpet gowns. She wore Tadashi Shoji to the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, and she chooses the Japanese designer again for the Oscars. And we have to say, this silver sparkly dress is the best Shoji she has ever worn so far. Save the best for last, indeed.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford

Hold my hands, I’m sweating bullets just thinking about this piece again. As I’ve said in the live tweet, red carpet dresses can be boring after a while. That’s why different cuts like Tilda Swinton’s suit at the Globes and Gwyneth’s menswear-inspired dress are so refreshing. The cape adds tons of flair to the figure-flattering dress, without being too much. It keeps her warm, too!

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton

One of the favorites of many, Michelle Williams is rocking the red carpet with a contrasting coral, layered Louis Vuitton. It is ultra-sweet with many feminine details including a peplum and a brow brooch that reminds me of Hello Kitty’s.

Here are the rest of our favorites.

Judy Greer

Stacy Kiebler in Marchesa

Angelina Jolie in Versace

Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab

Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa

Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive
