How To: Cannes Award Winning Golden Look by L'Oreal Paris

seo-img-article

With Cannes Film Festival 2011 already starting since last week, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the pictures from the red carpet to see the makeup look created by the L’Oreal Paris team. ‘The Golden Creations‘ created by Karim Rahman, Billy B and Rie Omoto. I’ve already posted the basic makeup look sketch for creating the look and the product that you can use for it in ‘Cannes Film Festival Worthy Looks‘ but when I get my hands on this tutorial video by Karim Rahman that guided through Timai, a blogger that cover the Cannes Film Festival 2011, I knew I needed to share it with you girls.

In the video tutorial Karim showed Timai on how to recreate a glamorous day time appropriate look, where he guided Timai to do it by herself step by step. The tutorial is divided into several videos, but in each one you’ll learn new makeup trick. Karim then showed Timai how to transform the day look into an evening look.

Day Time Eyes Tutorial

Karim wanted to create the graphic look starting with using gold all the way to the eyebrow, a touch of black to define and left the lips bare. I love how Karim used pencil eyeliner to define the outer corner of the eyes. Pay attention closely to the tutorial on how it’s done.

Day Time Cheeks and Lips Tutorial

For cheeks Karim chose pink tone blush for Timai just applied slightly to create that graphic look on the cheek and for the lips he used Color Riche that has a glossy and moisturizing finish. What’s interesting is how Karim taught Timai to appy the lipstick by dabbing it using her finger so that there will be no excess of product on the lips, it also looks more natural and makes the lipstick last longer. If you pay attention to the video, you’ll also get one other trick to neutralize the powder effect from the blusher.

Evening Eyes Tutorial

Timai’s eyebrow were defined by adding a highlighter shade eyeshadow below her eyebrow. If you look how Timai created her winged eye look previously on the day time look, Karim further elongated the wing end to create more definition to the eyes. See how Karim showed Timai applying the eyeshadow using her finger to create a more natural finish.

Evening Lips Tutorial

As for the lips, Karim went for an even more nude lips by neutralizing the lip colour first.

So what do you think? Isn’t it useful to see how the process unfolds one by one? Seeing a makeup artist creating a look from beginning to end, can actually help you to imagine recreating it by yourself.
