Before Fashionese Daily went online, before the forum was buzzing with hundreds and hundreds of girls from around the world, who knew Majolica Majorca even existed? I certainly didn’t.

But like we mentioned so many times before, the FD forum is full of fashion and beauty-savvy women and we all learn so much from each other! In one of the threads discussing mascara, the brand Majolica Majorca came up and got everybody curious. Majolica Majorca is Shisheido’s sister brand and is only available in Japan. Some of us were ready to buy the products online but thankfully, one of our members who was in Japan last month generously offered to buy them for some of us to try! (Thanks so much verypurpleperson!)

The package arrived at my house a few days ago but I just had a chance to try it yesterday (thanks to Braxton Hicks contractions :P) I ordered the Mascara Base and Lash Enamel Glamour. The mascara base is self-explanatory while the latter is a volumizing mascara. Both Mascara Base and Lash Enamel Glamour use comb-like wands, similar to L’Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara, but unlike Volume Shocking, the tooth combs in Majolica’s wands are too close together making it a bit hard to comb my lashes perfectly with it. However, I do love the curve on these wands and I think it gives the wands a better angle to lift and curl my lashes.

About the formula itself, the mascara base is pretty much the same with other mascara bases I’ve tried though this one doesn’t turn grey unlike the ones from other brands. For a “volumizing” mascara i think the Lash Enamel Glamour isn’t doing too good of a job there. I have tried other mascaras that give my lashes a fuller effect and I must again go back to L’Oreal Volume Shocking Mascara as a good example. But as for curling and the glossy black effect this mascara gives, I would give it a 10 point. Another 10 points go to its lasting power. I go on a full day – where I had some chatting session with my girl friends which included me giggling like a mad woman with tears rolling down my cheeks – with no hint of smudge anywhere! What’s more amazing is even after I removed the mascara at the end of the day, my lashes seemed to still look “lifted”. Brilliant!

So the verdict? This is an excellent everyday mascara. If what you’re after is vampy-looking lashes, use other volumizing formula or try a few extra coats of Lash Enamel Glamour (haven’t tried it yet, but some people said it works).

Majolica Majorca Mascaras are available online here.
