Saks Fifth Avenue New York flagship opened its new shoe floor moving up from the 4th floor to the 8th floor, last week on August 17, 2007. *on our Independance Day !* The new showroom will be filled with 100,000 pairs of designer shoes across the 10,000 sq. feet space and that’s approximately between 1,000 to 2,000 styles on display depending on the season.

The new floor will also have its very own zip code 10022-SHOE (endorsed by the US Postal Service), an express elevator, a Charbonnel et Walker chocolate café and a whole new VIP service; a VIP private shopping room with spacious seating and refreshments, and a massive shoe fitting room (!). An expert shoe repair and refurbishing service will be available on the same floor. And sales associates can also check inventories instantly from computer terminals located throughout the floor.

I guess it would be worth visiting knowing all the perks they’re offering. But personally, nothing beats its OFF 5th chain. It’s the discounted outlet version of Saks Fifth Avenue, they’re not only carrying items from past seasons but also, some from their current collection. Although the shoe section would be a total mess compared to the one at Saks Fifth flagship, but the excitement in getting any designer items at a fraction of their original price, is totally priceless!
