Have Your Say: The Luxola Indonesia Split

seo-img-article

When our paychecks roll in at the end of the month, one of the online websites where we dream about blowing our hard-earned cash at is Luxola. It’s hands-down one of our favorite places to get beauty and skin care products, especially since they spoiled us to an array of brands that were previously not readily available in Indonesia: 3 Concept Eyes! Mario Badescu! Deborah Lippman! Edward Bess! We were happy, but our wallets were not.

Then one fine day, we entered www.luxola.com on our browsers and were redirected to www.luxola.co.id.

Despite the redirect, everything in the new Indonesia-specific website  looked familiar. Nothing about the layout or user interface had changed — although I did feel a change on a more intrinsic, more deep, more gut-wrenching level. I looked under the “Brands” tab and then it hit me: I realized that all the brands that we came to Luxola for were suddenly no more. Completely unavailable. Gone. Kaput.

Stricken with grief, we fell on our knees and screamed out a long, drawn-out “Nooooooooooooooo!” You’d think we were auditioning for a part in Star Wars or something, but no, we were really shocked to see that the variety in beauty and skin care brands had drastically been reduced. So what happened? Where were all the brand that made us love Luxola so?

At a Luxola Gathering held in Central Jakarta recently, it was explained that the sudden whittling of brand availability was down to one reason: they were “splitting” from the Singapore office. All this time, the products we have been seeing on the website were registered in Singapore, so they were delivered from the Singapore office.

But Luxola Indonesia are starting a new commitment to build a brand portfolio of their own, and to house the products in their own warehouse too. This way, deliveries to customers in Indonesia will arrive on their doorstep at a much faster rate. They’re even working on a same-day delivery, which is good news for anyone who likes instant gratification!

Luxola Indonesia’s country manager promised that more and more brands will be returning and/or making their way to Luxola.co.id soon, and I don’t doubt them. At the rate that the beauty and skin care industry is soaring in this country, they’ll do well to cater to the hungry and knowledgeable  market here. You can still access Luxola’s entire catalog at their Singapore website — where I see they have just stocked Lancaster sun protection products *grumblegrumble*.

I understand if it will take time for Luxola Indonesia to bring in the same impressive roster of products into the local portal; heaven knows that getting permission to get products into this country is a long bureaucratic slog of Lord of the Rings proportions. I’d be lying if I did not say that I am insanely envious of the brands available in Luxola’s Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai, and Australian portals, but it’s only uphill from here. But what do you think of the Indonesia-specific Luxola? Has it changed your frequency , now that it houses far fewer  brands that were previously unique to our shores?
