Battle of the Week: Maybelline Hypersharp vs Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen

seo-img-article

To be honest, I was actually rooting for the Revlon because I’m a big fan of the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in wand form — but you can see from the get-go that the application of the product ended up in patchy strokes. Where the Maybelline Hypersharp resulted in a single smooth line, the formula of the Colorstay ink (and perhaps the design of the felt tip) resulted in a dry, imperfect line.

The “after” photo was taken only four or five hours later. While the end result showed pretty significant smudging from both pens, I think I’d rather go with the Maybelline Hypersharp at the end of the day, because the formula was smoother and came with a softer tip that glided nicely across the eyelid. While I liked the broader, stiffer felt tip that came with the Revlon Colorstay, it was clear that the design was not ready to accommodate an inferior formula that dried out and clumped up upon contact with skin. Neither of these two products are perfect, but when push comes to shove (read: when you are stuck in a new city for a work trip and have forgotten to bring your makeup with you), the Maybelline Hypersharp is a very doable option.
