Recent Love: Acca Kappa Muschio Bianco Body Lotion
Have you ever bought a product simply because you were bowled over by the packaging? I have. In fact, I’m so in love with the packaging by Acca Kappa that if I could, I would fill my entire bathroom with nothing but products from this Italian bath and body label. I already own the flat-out lovely Muscio Bianco EDC and Glicine Solid Perfume, and I wanted to explore the brand beyond their fragrances.
The Acca Kappa Muschio Bianco Body Lotion has quickly a favorite of mine not just for its formula, but for its packaging too. This body lotion comes in a clear plastic bottle and a cap embossed with the brand’s name. Other than the multilingual information and ingredients labels, this product doesn’t come with any other bells and whistles. But its quiet simplicity is what I love about it: the stripped-down minimalism of the packaging shows me that Acca Kappa products sell themselves. Their products don’t depend on striking colors and ostentatious packaging to win you over.
This is the travel-friendly 100ml version of the product, which came bundled with the Muschio Bianco Shower Gel during a special promotion. The name of this particular range, Muschio Bianco, is Italian for white moss, which is a conglomeration of lavender and juniper. These flowering plants already are individually in heavy rotation among other fragrances and bath & body products because of their distinct scents — I’m sure most of us can easily identify a bath & body product that contains the essence of either lavender or juniper. When the two of them are put together, MAGIC happens: the resulting scent is altogether delicate and woody and perfect for everyday use.
As a moisturizer, it does just what it says on the tin: hydrates skin. The texture is soft and lightweight, although it lingers a little longer than other lotions before being fully absorbed. Apparently this product contains lemon extract, which the label says is “known for its toning and vivifying properties” — okay sure, whatever, I’m so overcome by the way this thing smells that I wouldn’t bat an eye if the label said that it played a pivotal part in building the American space program!
So as a body lotion, the Muschio Bianco is pretty basic, but there’s nothing basic about the way this thing smells. The price tag of the full-size product (USD 54) might be on the steeper side of body products but then again, can you really put a price tag on satisfaction? 😉
