I think of all the big cities in the world, New York is the one that has the most songs written about it. And why not? It’s a city saturated with dreams and stories, with romanticized neighborhoods, and with waiters who are bussing tables to support a fledgling writing career (KIDDING).
For years now, Carolina Herrera has unleashed fragrances dedicated to the Big Apple. These fragrances fall under a line called Carolina Herrera 212, with the numbers representing the calling code for New York. After the success of several fragrances and body sprays in the 212 family, they’ve come up with another big city scent to add to the group: the Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Rosé.
This is the latest edition in the Carolina Herrera 212 fragrance line, a sort of continuation to the Carolina Herrera 212 VIP. It’s a love letter to New York’s hottest party scenes, and boy is it suitable for a good time on a night out. The brand even recruited Brazilian bombshell Gisele to serve as the fragrance’s ambassador, who they felt had the right personality for the kind of party that the scent represents.
The overall impression of this EDP is one that’s very sweet: its top note is a brisk and fresh champagne rosé accord — how apropos that the top notes should remind us of the bubbly pink drink popped at many an exclusive fête. It then fades out on the skin and exposes the mid notes, made of peach flower accord. These mid notes are especially velvety and really stand out against the freshness of the champagne rosé accord before it. Finally, it’s rounded up with base notes composed of the queen wood accord, which is actually synthetic but provides a very full, woody finishing touch wrap up the entire experience.
The design of the glass bottle that the scent comes in is a variation on previous Carolina Herrera 212 bottles: an oblong silhouette with rose gold color scheme. The huge bottle cap is held together with a very sturdy magnet, and I made note of the size of the cap because it means you will never lose it! Let’s put an end to fragrance bottles that come with those tiny caps that always get lose, either by it rolling under the bed or get transported into some alternate universe.
