Style Roundup: The Valentino Special

Valentino at Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week

One of my favorite shows at the Plaza Indonesia Fashion Week was the presentation by Valentino and REDValentino. The labels presented their Spring 2014 and Spring/Summer 2014 collections respectively — and as expected, the collections saw pastels, florals, and fit-and-flare dresses make their way down the runway.

The double team of Valentino designers, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, really pulled all the stops with a collection that is classically spring without being boring. The press release reads as follows:

Luxuriousmaterials are given an electrifying charge of color. Twill, cady, mikado, georgette, and scuba silk blaze in fluorescent shades of blue, pink, green, yellow, and orange. Nuances of ivory, pale pink and nude unite the visual texture. Blue and denim blue add a note of strength. Camouglafe Chine, multicolored guipure lace, and sailor stripes create rhythm and rift.

What a mouthful! This is something I’ve always enjoyed/despised about press releases given at fashion shows: they already do most of the describing, so there’s very little for us as reporters and editors to analyze and write. But that’s a gripe for another day — enjoy the stunning collection below!
