Styletracker: Red Carpet Looks on H&M Jakarta Opening Night

seo-img-article

Well well well! Now that everyone’s had a chance to breathe from the absolute madness that was H&M’s debut in Jakarta, what opinions have we formed about it?

Aside from the absolute fever-pitch frenzy that went down on VIP night (October 2), I was surprisingly underwhelmed by what the Swedish retail giant had to offer to the madding crowd that night. Yes, we saw the bang-for-your-buck game that they have always played so well. Yes, they brought along the gorgeous Fall ’13 pieces we played with in their media preview last June. Yes, we saw rack after rack of everyday fashion goodness.

Technically, there was nothing wrong with the collection they brought in. They had everything going for them to succeed that night (and by the looks of the mile-long lines at the cash registers, succeed they did!) so maybe it was my own fault: I guess I was expecting more because I overly keen on seeing the much hyped-up Isabel Marant collaboration at the opening too.

But I suppose I should just sit and wait patiently for that, because the H&M madness isn’t quite over yet: the Pondok Indah store has been opened to the media today, October 9. Plans of opening the Grand Indonesia store — the flagship H&M store in Indonesia — are underway too.

Until then, let’s take a look back at some of the looks we saw on VIP night at Gandaria City. We’ve got some hits (and possible misses) on this list, so don’t be shy about letting us know what you love!
