Styletracker: Days 1-4 at New York Fashion Week 2013

New York Fashion Week has been going on since Saturday, but I’ve only just managed to get around to putting together a Styletracker list. These are some of the things we saw up to Day 4 of the 8 day-long event. NYFW has always been a “safe” affair as far as looks go, with brands unleashing fairly conservative numbers for the upcoming ready-to-wear Spring collection, and this year is no different. Of course the usual suspects of the conventional Spring look such as florals, pastels, and bright colors made it, but I was happy to see the variation trends. Let’s have a look-see!

Made of Metal.

Ooh, shiny. With materials that reflect the shine of springtime sun, I guess there’s little need to accessorize with even more bling–unless you fully intend on going as a solar panel for Halloween.

Swishy Skirts.

Yes! I’m always looking forward to see what designers do with the obligatory floor-sweeping dress. Materials are light and billowy, with prints being a pretty big deal too. Rebecca Minkoff chose to stick with the usual floral print, while Mara Hoffman’s geometric tribal patterns are made even more eye-catching with bias cuts.
