Lipstick Monday: Givenchy Le Rouge in Rose Taffetas

Good day! How is your Monday treating you so far, ladies?

Here I am, back again with another Givenchy Le Rouge review. I like the formula so much that it warrants getting it in another shade(s). This time, I opted for a lighter, ‘friendlier’ shade.

Givenchy Le Rouge 201 Rose Taffetas

The packaging needs no introduction anymore. It is still by far the edgiest lipstick in my book. With its black lambskin covering, silver studs, and clean lines of a tube, this lipstick is ready to rock your pout and outfit.

The Le Rouge is an experience in and of itself. The leather smells like, well, leather. Imagine taking a whiff at a brand spanking new leather bag, and yeah, that’s how it feels. The bullet itself is scented with mimosa and blackcurrant which lingers for quite a bit after application, but the lovely notes sit well with my senses, so it’s not an issue for me.

Rose Taffetas is described as “a light pink coral” on and I think it’s quite spot on, but it could appear darker (pinker) or lighter depending on my lips depending on the day. I know, my lips are quite the chameleon. Despite all that, the color shows up nicely on my lips. It’s well-pigmented with a wonderful payoff in just one stroke.

It applies satin and dries off to a semi-matte finish that still remains luminous. It’s creamy and the slip is just perfect, adhering to my lips with ease. And the best part, it doesn’t cake up when I layer it. It wears off nicely throughout the day, almost creating a ‘my-lips-but-better’ look.

This pink shade will suit many skin tones. It’s one of those no-brainer lips to wear on a daily basis, definitely office-appropriate and going well with clean, crisp shirts.

Stay tuned for more series of Givenchy Le Rouge. Hopefully I won’t run out of words to express the beauty of this line of lipsticks, and hopefully you won’t get bored either :p

Special thanks to Sugai-san at Shunji Matsuo for this lovely new hair cut, and to Rina and the rest of the team. I had a wonderful experience :)
