Shaping our eyebrow is very important, although it does not look that very necessary.  Eyebrow can act as our face frame, especially eye frame.  I do noticed eyebrow can make eyes look droopier, sadder, or the opposite, strong, cheerful, lovely, depending on how we shape them.  For people who have never pluck their eyebrows, doing it may look very scary, because we don’t know how long it takes for them to grow out again.  I also saw a television program, where the soon-to-be model refuses to get a makeover if the professional make up artist touch her eyebrow.  Even some of them were crying because they do not want their eyebrow to be touched.  Phew!

Ladies, believe me, you want your eyebrow to look nice.  So, if you’re afraid to try it by yourself, you can go to the salon or any beauty clinic to get them professionally-shaped for you.  But, if you have the tools, why not YOU give it a try?  🙂

Before we start, I just want to tell you, our left and right eyebrows are rarely in the same shape.  Almost everyone has the same “problem”. Not really a problem actually, it’s normal. Just live and deal with it and don’t try too hard to make them identical because it’s gonna be a disaster.  If you have the perfectly identical eyebrow, lucky you!

The basic tools that we need :

  1. Tweezers.
  2. Mini scissors.
  3. Eyebrow brush or washed mascara wand will do.

Now, all we have to is following these basic steps :

1.  The perfect eyebrow depends on our face shape, so make sure you’re following this golden ratio (picture below).  You can use chopstick or eyebrush to see the guideline.  As the picture below, you can see the beginning of the brow goes from a straight line from the side of the ball of your nose, this is where you should begin. Do that, and I think naturally everyone already has the right start.  The arch should be from the tip of your nose through your pupil. The end is a line where you can find when you slant your chopstick/eyebrush just beyond the outer corner of the eye.

2.  Brush the brow hair upward with an eyebrow brush or washed mascara wand,  and use the tiny scissors to trim any hairs that stick out.

3.  Now, if you’re ready, I suggest to pluck hair only under your natural brow shape with your tweezer.  This is the safest option for the beginner. For a first timer, plucking eyebrow might hurt, so take a note to grab hair at the base to avoid painful tugging.  Pluck both side of your eyebrows so you can see how they look like with the whole face as you go.

Useful tips :

  • Pluck your eyebrow after taking hot shower, because the hot water will make open up your pores, it will hurt less.
  • You can buy some numbing product at pharmacy if you have small tolerance of pain, apply it on your eyebrow before you pluck them.
  • Look at the mirror as much as you can.  This is to avoid over plucking the eyebrow.  Slow but sure, ladies.
  • If you want to fill in your eyebrow, don’t use a very dark color.  Even if your hair is black, I suggest you go with ashy brown or grayish color to make them look more natural.

Now that you have your eyebrow groomed, you need a product to set them in its perfect place on a daily basis. Next up, we’re going to review the new product that we’re currently obsessing about.

Good luck! 🙂
