You know what made those swimwears really pop on the runways of Mercedes-Benz Miami Fashion Week Swim? It’s the whole styling – hair, shoes, accessories, and most importantly, makeup!

I had the opportunity to go to the backstage of some designer shows, where Make Up For Ever team, led by head artists James and Lottie, created gorgeous looks that complemented the designers’ creations. Here is the report!

Designer: Poko Pano

Looks: Quoting James Vincent “The look is beautiful golden, bronze shade. Metallics brought into a very sensual smokey eye. Very easy, very sexy beach goddess look that works for the runway or the real life. It’s all about the glow!”

Key Products: Since statement brow is essential to this look, James used the soon-to-be-relaunched Aqua Brow to fill in the models’ brows. On the eyes, James used Aqua Cream #12, #13, #14 and #15 to create some depth. And finally, keeping the lips nude and simple with Rouge Artist #18.

Hot tips! Big bushy eyebrows are all the rage this season. Use taupe-colored pencil to fill your eyebrows as it will look natural on most hair colors.

Designer: Dolores Cortes

Looks: Not the look for the faint-hearted. The inspiration of this look is from Miami, so it’s bold, daring and hot! Winged eyeliner paired with fuchsia lips, completed with a bouffant rainbow-streaked ‘do, made Dolores Cortes show one that was hard to forget.

Key Products: Key makeup artist Lottie used Aqua Black to create winged lines on the models’ upper lash line, then connected to the bottom lash line. She put on Faux Lash #157 and Aqua Smoky Lash mascara to make the models’ eyes even more dramatic. Those neon, punchy lips were created using Aqua Lip #16 and Aqua Cream #7.

Hot tips! For eyes and lips this strong, it’s better to tone down the look by using peachy-pink blush, like Sculpting Blush #22 lightly dusted on the cheeks.

Designer: Mara Hoffman

Looks: Lottie said the inspiration for this look is desert-nomad bohemian women who are hippie cool. The makeup was using lots of earth tones, enhancing the beautifully sunkissed skin of the models, completed with big, almost bushy eyebrows. This is the look that can work beautifully for any skin tone, especially for us Indonesians!

Key Products: Lottie used Aqua Shadow #0E (black) on the lids, which she blended with Eye Shadow #172 and Metal Powder #1 on the inner corners to give that intense, metallic touch.

Hot tips! Earth tones look lovely on most skin tones but to avoid looking “muddy”, use a combination of matte and shimmery textures, this especially works for women with darker skin tones.

Designer: Aqua di Lara

Looks: Very sensual, mine metal glam eyes in copper, gold and champagne. This is the perfect makeup look for those sultry, Summer nights!

Key Products: James lined the models’ eyes perfectly using Aqua Liner in Black in both upper and lower lash lines. He then added Aqua Shadow in taupes, browns and bronzes, such as #12, #14 and #15 and finished the look off with Aqua Smoky Lash mascara.

Hot tips! Dust a metallic powder shadow, such as Metal Powder #3 on the lids to make your eyes “pop”.

Designer: CIA Maritima

Looks: James created a look that is fresh and pretty by using shimmery neutral shadows on the lids, “flushed” cheeks and barely-there lips.

Key Products: James used Face & Body Liquid Makeup to keep the complexion natural and Aqua Eyes in #20E and #28E to give overall warmth to the eyes. The look is finished with Lab Shine in pink hue.

Hot tips! James said that when we think of mascara, we immediately think of black. While black can add dramatic touch, sometimes using brown mascara can give our face that “youthfulness” that we all so desire.

Designer: Group Show (Aguaclara, Aquarella Swimwear, Cote D’Or Swimwear and Sauvage)

Looks: Fresh and naturally sunkissed. This is how you want to look like in the morning and have people commenting “Wow, you look well-rested” 😀

Key Products: The key is to recreate that super healthy, glow from within skin and what better product to achieve this thanMake Up For Ever HD Foundation?

Hot tips! Go easy on the blush if you want to keep the look very natural. Choose bronzer instead and lightly dust it on the areas where the sun naturally hits your face
