Maybelline Backstage Makeup Look & Must Haves

seo-img-article

It’s Maybelline’s fifth year as the official sponsor for Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week 2011. It’s always exciting to see their makeup look for the runway. This year, Maybelline works with various designers from major one to the indie labels such as BCBG Max Azria, Bibhu Mohapatra, Carlos Miele, Custo Barcelona, DKNY, Jen Kao, L.A.M.B., Libertine, Vivienne Tam and Wes Gordon.

What’s more exciting is that we know that we can recreate the runway look because the products that they’re using are something that are within our reach to purchase. With the upcoming season, Maybelline also launched four new palettes called the Eye Studio Hyper Diamonds. But we’ll talk more about the palette on our next post.

In the mean time, let’s take a look at the beauty trend for this season according to Maybelline, as seen on the New York Fashion Week.

Spring/Summer 2012 Makeup Look

Au Natural at DKNY

The key to this look is the perfect healthy looking skin with minimal coverage. Opt for light base such as BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer to even out your complexion and also gives a nice healthy glow to the skin. Light highlighter shade on your lid and lightly stroke mascara on the lashes. For the lips, pat a clear gloss to your lips. Finish off with finely brushed light rose blush on the apple of your cheeks.

Turn Up the Drama at L.A.M.B

With this look, focus the ‘drama’ on your eyes. Make sure that your eyebrows are plucked and frame your face perfectly. Fill them in with brow powder using a slanted brush so it looks natural despite it being ‘strong’. For the eyes, use gel eyeliner and slanted brush to draw the strong cat’s eyes effect on your eyes. Start small with the area around your eyes and smudge it outward to create that winged effect. Choose pink cream blush and lipstick that are softly smudged on your cheeks and lips to finish off the look.

Sun Kissed at Vivienne Tam

This season’s sun kissed look is not the usual bronze and copper like you’re familiar with. It’s dominated with coral as the tangerine tango would be dominating in both fashion and beauty. Choose a slightly orange or peachy highlighting shade to create definition on your crease and a shimmery coral lipstick for your lips. A little bit of bronzer on your cheeks and you’re ready for the beach, in style.
