JFW 2012 DAY 3: Various Themes for Hijabers Look from APPMI

seo-img-article

It wasn’t something that happened by chance that APPMI show on day three of JFW2012 began with a series of Muslim Fashion shows. The history of Muslim fashion in Indonesia, initiated by APPMI has started since 18 years ago, and since then Indonesia has gained global acknowledgement for its potential to be the center of Muslim fashion. Indonesia has been widely known to have many varieties and innovative Muslim designs reflecting its cultural diversity.

The first part of the show, APPMI presented 8 designers; Dian Pelangi, Jeny Tjahyawati, Monika Jufry, Tuty Adib, Hannie Hananto, Merry Pramono, Iva Lativah and Herman Nuary.

These monochromatic palettes are 2 Pose from Monica Jufry. At first sight they might seem too toned down and pale, but surprisingly, they’re very wearable, and neutral. I think this look suits evertone, the mixture of grey and red-fuchsia is beautiful without drawing too much attention.

Dian Pelangi, this young designer is already become everybody’s favourite designer. Who knew that her glamorous and bejeweled collection titled Russkaya Raduga, were mostly made from Javanese woven fabric! The structured woven were transformed into twisted cropped jacket, jodhpur pants, midi skirt and hoodie jacket. The title of the collection itself means Russian Rainbow, flowing into tassel, an ushanka (Russian fur hat), and some bold accessories.

The next collection to highlight was Hijab Rock by Hannie Hananto. A parade of models wearing aviator sunglasses, studs, chain and spikes attached to leather outfits. Quite unusual considering this is Muslim fashion!

Pirates, especially a chic and fashionable one like Jack Sparrow, will always be an inspiration. By Merry Pramono, this style was translated into frills vest and shirt, bell sleeves, drawstring shirt, and do you notice the headscarf style she made?
