For Girly Girls, With Love From NYFW 2011

seo-img-article

We’re seeing too many fabulous trends during New York Fashion Week 2011 – which wrapped up almost two weeks ago – we almost couldn’t keep up (not to mention London and Milan Fashion Week. It’s a crazy period, fashion folks). However, we rounded up our favorite, totally wearable trends for you girly girls who just can’t get enough of anything feminine and saccharine-sweet.

Pastels
My eyes got a little watery from all the neon color-blocking pieces on the runways of NYFW 2011. But thankfully, all that was balanced by the pastel color-blocking. Applied on silk and cotton, muted colors such as apricot, baby pink, mint green, lilac, and light yellow appeared light and effortless.

Ballgown Skirts
I’m sure we all have a little bit of princess inside of us. So why don’t we dress the part? Take cue from NYFW 2011, where floor-length skirts in silk taffeta, tulle, and organza are paired with everything from boxy lace to spandex tube tops. For you rock princess, it was even paired with biker boots. Very chic.

Florals (Pantsuit)
Floral prints on Spring – how appropriate! As we’ve covered before, this season, designers seemed to be in love with floral-printed pantsuits, making those traditional suits lighter and cheerier for summer. Well, we love them too. Plus, it’s so easy to mix-and-match them with separate solid colored pieces.

Peplums
It’s amazing how peplums can add magic to almost any outfit. Peplums add structure to dresses, give girly touch to suits, and it’s definitely flattering. No wonder we’re seeing them everywhere, on and off the runway! So, add that slight pouf at the waist for your must-have accessory this season.
