Before you know it, Idul Fitri is just around the corner. Yes, we’re excited, but of course we’re also panicked a little with the usual life-and-death questions, such as, where did our Hari Raya bonus go, what greasy food shall we have for Hari Raya breakfast, and most importantly, what to wear?!
We may buy our Hari Raya clothes, tailor-made them if we can afford the time, or mix and match pieces that we already have. Wherever your upcoming outfit is coming from, here are several inspirations fresh off the Resort 2012’s runway

Light, modest, and a fresh change from the usual kaftans—what’s not to love from maxi dresses? If you avoid looking too ‘dressy’, opt for collared ones or combine maxi skirts with collared shirts.
Quick Tips
- Hari Raya is when you will be moving around like crazy. So opt for breathable pieces and loose head coverings, and go easy on the accessories—better to wear a couple of statement ones than stack a bunch of them.
- Don’t make Grandma glare, darling. Be stylish, without forgetting modesty. Check yourself in the mirror to make sure that your outfit is loose enough, no plunging neckline, no peeking undergarments… you get the idea.
- Shine with bright or gemstone-colored outfits, as an alternative from the traditional neutral-colored ones.
- But the most important rule of all never changes: be comfortable.
