FOTD: The Golden Blue

seo-img-article

I was so mesmerized by Jason Wu’s runway makeup especially the eyes that I tried to make them for going to the Tod’s Art of Leather Exhibition. I thought the combination of deep blue and gold is just brilliant. Not just any gold, but gold blend right in the middle of the blue.

I started by using my most trusted eye primer Urban Decay Primer Potion to make sure that my eye makeup will last and won’t budge. What I wanted to do was to create a gradient of deep blue on my lid all the way up till just right into the crease. The gradient was made from the inside corner starting with the lightest deep blue until the outer corner finishing with the darkest one.

I got three blue eyeshadows with me:

  • Urban Decay Perversion
  • Urban Decay Goddess
  • MAC Pigment Bell Bottom Blue

I started by applying Bell Bottom Blue just a little bit on the inner corner followed by Goddess for the rest of the lid. I then layered my outer corner V area with Perversion to create more depth. I didn’t worry at all in blending them when I apply it, because that’s what I do just about now with my beloved MAC 217 brush. Blend the colours tighter until you don’t see where one colour ends and the other begins.

For the gold I chose to wear MAC Fluidline in Uppity because of the colour, but any gold eyeshadow will be perfect. I patted Uppity using my pinky fingers and blended it upward and still focusing the colour on the center of my lid with pencil brush or blending brush. Don’t forget to finish off your lid with highlighters on the browbone area

For the undereye, I applied MAC Pearlglide eyeliner Fly by Blue just two third of the lower waterline area and blend it with Baked (which is a gold coloured eyeshadow) on the inner lower part. To finish off I applied black eyeliner and mascara, of course.
