Blush on Kis: The Wonders of Exfoliation

seo-img-article

Maybe you’ve heard the term ‘exfoliation’, some of you might be familiar with the term but for those whose still wondering the benefit of exfoliation than this article is just for you.

On next week’s Blush on Kis, Shirley Gan, Clinique Education & PR Manager will talk about all you need to know about exfoliation.

Exfoliation is the process of dead skin cells removal from the skin surface. It’s a very important thing to do because if the dead skin cells accumulate it will result in:

  • Dull looking skin
  • Clogged pores which is one of the cause of acne
  • Makeup will not stick well and it will not apply evenly
  • All skincare products will not absorb to our skin and achieve it’s maximum benefit.

Usually the process occurs naturally every 28-30 days, however with age the process will slow down and we will need exfoliating product to help with the process.

The advantage of undergoing exfoliation is that the skin will look radiant and even skin tone, no more dullness, makeup will easily stay for longer and it’s applied more easily as well as skincare products will easily absorb into the skin.

Do we really need to do exfoliation? Yes, we desperately need to exfoliate regularly. There are treatments that can be done every dayand there is also a weekly.

Exfoliation should be done in 3 phases. Namely, manually by wiping daily exfoliator to our face, then by using a scrub brush and lastly by releasing bonds between dead skin cells.

At Clinique they have 3 stages of exfoliation like what we stated above, they are:

  1. Wiping using Clinique Clarifying Lotion which will remove dead skin cells from the skin surface.
  2. Next stage is done weekly which is a scrub, at Clinique the scrub is called 7 Day Scrub available for dry skin and dry type combination and exfoliating scrub for oily and and combination skin type oily.
  3. Turnaround Concentrate is the next step. It’s a serum to release the bonds between dead skin cells to be used twice daily, morning and night.

There is also a weekly mask that we can use as a weekly exfoliator which is used as a mask for 5 minutes called Clinique Turnaround Instant Facial.

Lastly, the most important think about exfoliation is to do it regularly along with other use of skincare. Clinique have what they called the 3 Step Skincare System which is their basic care which they highly suggest and Shirley also remind of the importance of using sunblock everyday. Not to forget to cleanse your face regularly to make sure there will be no buildup on the skin surface.

As usual if you have any question regarding the topic don’t hesitate to ask them via Blush on Kis’ Twitter or Facebook and don’t forget to hear the live interview next week, on Tuesday and Friday around 8-9 AM.
