The Stick That Really Covers from Shu Uemura

seo-img-article

I’ve been skipping Shu Uemura’s foundation for almost a year. I used to love their liquid foundation but I have no idea why I haven’t tried Face Architect foundation which a lot of people swears by, but I will one of these days.

So last week  when I got my hands on the Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation, I’m so excited. The Nobara Cream Cover Stick Foundation is the new stick version of Shu Uemura’s favourite Nobara Cream Foundation. It’s formulated to give the instant high coverage of a concealer but it offers the smooth glide formula of a foundation.

I have never used a stick foundation before. But I know that many people opted for this since it’s really easy to use. When you use stick foundation, you don’t apply the foundation directly from the stick to your whole face. Drew lines to several spot on your face, for instance: forehead, nose bridge, cheeks and chin. Maybe for more coverage you can draw two parallel lines for one spot.

I came home with a foundation shade that isn’t an exact match to my skin because they currently don’t have it in my shade. But I remember Darwyn share his tips on how to solve foundation shade crisis like this here. So after I draw lines at the places that I mentioned above with my Nobara stick, I used my darker foundation and tap it in several spots on the low planes on my face such as hairlines, temples, under cheek bones, jaw lines and any place that isn’t protruding to mimic a countour effect. So the Nobara stick will mimic the highlight effect. I spray a face spray to my face and blend the foundation with my Everyday Minerals Long Handled Kabuki or Duo Fibre brush in circular motion to blend between the two shades so the differences of shades wouldn’t be feasible anymore.

What I like about this foundation is that it’s not too dry and it’s very creamy. Most of the stick foundation that I came across are usually very drying and that’s why it’s perfect for those with oily skin. By using the face spray I’m able to make the foundation coverage more sheer. But if I want it to be thick, I would just blend it right away without the face spray.

Frederick Ng, Shu Uemura’s International Makeup Artist from Malaysia said if you want to use this stick as a concealer you can do so as well since it has a really thick coverage. But you don’t want to tug the area of the skin around the eyes because it’s really thin so if you want to use it as a concealer you need to mix the stick foundation with an eyecream on the your hands first and then tap the product onto your undereyes.

The She Uemura Nobara Stick Foundation cost Rp 510,000. I got this during my visit to Mal Kelapa Gading on the new counter of Shu Uemura at Sogo where they move it to a spacier and better one.

This is how the Nobara stick looks on my face, I have broken capillaries and feasible blue vein. Usually I used lots of amount of concealer to cover up these imperfections. But with this stick, since it has thick consistency like concealer so it can cover the imperfections even without concealer.

This is what I wore on the FOTD:
